What the Fit Checker evaluates

The checker is narrower than the Finder. You choose one exact balancer and enter the wheel dimensions you know. Each published limit is evaluated independently so the result can tell you whether the rim, width, complete assembly diameter and wheel weight fit the selected model.

Centering and application are kept separate because a wheel can be physically small enough to spin and still need a cone, collet, lug plate or motorcycle/truck adapter that is not standard with the machine.

Worked example: an 18 × 8.5 passenger wheel on Ranger DST2420X

Ranger publishes an 8–30 inch rim range and 2–18 inch width range for DST2420X, with a 43-inch maximum tire diameter and 145 lb maximum wheel weight. An 18-inch rim, 8.5-inch width, 30-inch overall diameter and 62 lb assembly are inside those published dimensional limits.

If you also enter a center-hole diameter but no comparable cone range is published in the current data, the result does not turn that missing tooling detail into a green check. It tells you to check the exact centering hardware for the wheel.

Worked example: Atlas WB11 shows how conflicting manufacturer values are handled

Atlas' live WB11 page currently publishes a larger maximum rim and a different maximum wheel weight than the current WB11 manual. The checker therefore does not use those disputed maxima to tell you a near-limit wheel definitely fits or definitely fails. It can still evaluate the published rim width, overall tire diameter and other consistent fields.

This approach is intentionally conservative: the visitor sees what can be checked and exactly which limit should be confirmed on the current machine documentation.

Motorcycle and truck applications need more than dimensional overlap

Choose Motorcycle when the wheel needs a motorcycle-specific shaft or adapter. The checker looks for explicit motorcycle capability or a documented adapter pathway. Choose Heavy-duty truck only for commercial truck work; the application check then requires a model documented as a heavy-duty truck balancer.

A passenger/light-truck balancer with a truck cone can still be useful for selected dually or light-truck wheels, but that does not turn it into a 300–500 lb-capacity heavy-duty machine.

Why a result can say “Check this detail”

That message is used when the machine's current published information is not enough to make a responsible yes/no statement for one specification. Common examples are a missing cone range, a specialty adapter whose exact coverage must be checked, or manufacturer documents that publish different limits.

It does not mean the wheel is known not to fit. It means the next useful step is specific: open the manufacturer source, check the current adapter kit, or confirm the value on the machine documentation before relying on that part of the result.

What an inside-limits result tells you

Correct balancing also depends on centering, machine calibration, wheel condition, clean mating surfaces, correct data entry and the service procedure used by the technician. The checker evaluates equipment limits; it is not a substitute for the balancer manual or wheel/tire service instructions.

That is why the positive result says your entries are within the published limits rather than “guaranteed fit.”
