Tire Changer Finder: Match Current Machines to Your Requirements
Tell the Finder what kinds of wheels and tires you expect to service, then use the shortlist to see which current tire changers line up best with those requirements. Rim size, tire size, application, difficult-tire features, power and shop air are compared separately so you can quickly see why each machine appears.

What the Finder is matching
Required numeric limits are checked against the manufacturer’s published specifications. If a known outside-clamp maximum is smaller than the rim size you enter, that machine does not match the requirement. If the maximum is missing or disputed, the machine can remain visible with a clear note telling you which detail to check before deciding.
Application support adds another layer beyond size
Passenger and light-truck capability is common among current machines. Motorcycle and ATV support is much more configuration-dependent. A machine can receive stronger motorcycle credit when the exact manufacturer publishes that use directly or publishes a specific adapter path. Small rim size by itself is not enough.
How the Finder handles differing manufacturer specifications
Current KATOOL pages publish different maximum clamp figures for KT-T830 and KT-T835 configurations. The Finder leaves those disputed maxima out of the match decision and clearly tells you that the manufacturer pages disagree. Other published fields that agree—such as maximum tire diameter, assist arms and air pressure—can still be used.

A worked example shows how the Tire Changer Finder narrows the options
Consider a passenger/light-truck shop that expects rims up to 28 inches, wants an assist arm, requires published run-flat support, has 230 V power and can supply 140 PSI at the machine. Ranger R76ATR publishes a 9–28 inch outside-clamp range, 10–30 inch inside-clamp range, an included assist arm, run-flat/low-profile support, 230 V power and a 140–165 PSI operating range.
That does not make R76ATR a universal recommendation. It illustrates why the Finder checks the complete requirement set. A different shop with 110 V only, smaller wheels or no run-flat work could receive a very different shortlist. The result should always be read as “these documented fields line up with the requirements entered,” not “this is the best tire changer.”
Include voltage and shop air in the shortlist
Current options include 110/115 V machines, 220/230 V machines and models where the ordered configuration still needs a quick utility check. Air requirements also vary substantially: Atlas TC229 publishes 90–110 PSI, KATOOL KT-T830 publishes 116–145 PSI on the consistent field set, and Ranger R80EX publishes 140–165 PSI.
If you enter an available regulated PSI, Finder compares it only with a published operating range. It does not infer delivered CFM from pressure. If the manufacturer does not publish a comparable airflow figure, the result tells you to check the manual or manufacturer instead of guessing from PSI.
Why specification coverage is shown separately from the match
A machine can look promising on the fields that are known while still having gaps that matter to the buyer. The specification-coverage indicator makes that visible. A fully documented Atlas model can therefore be easier to evaluate than a machine with similar headline capacity but missing or conflicting clamp information.
KATOOL KT-T830 is the clearest current example. Live manufacturer pages disagree on maximum clamp range, voltage and weight. When live manufacturer pages disagree, the Finder leaves those disputed values out of the decisive size check. It can still use consistent facts such as assist arms, bead blaster, maximum tire diameter and published air-pressure range.

The strongest use of Finder is to reduce a broad tire-changing-equipment market to a small group of technically plausible machines. Read the “why it fits” notes and any “check before deciding” details on those candidates. Heavy-duty truck service uses a different application gate
Choose Heavy-duty truck / commercial service for semi-truck, fleet, agricultural and other large-vehicle work. The Finder then favors current models whose manufacturer explicitly publishes heavy-duty capability. Passenger/light-truck machines are not promoted into that class merely because one rim dimension overlaps.
Heavy-duty machines usually publish one hydraulic chuck or general rim range rather than automotive outside/inside clamp ranges. For a specific heavy-duty wheel, use the Fit Checker with General published rim range.
