Compare ranges only when they mean the same thing
Outside clamping, inside clamping and a general center-clamp rim range appear on separate rows. The table does not collapse them into one “max rim size” field.
How to read blank or disputed specifications
If current manufacturer sources disagree on a value, Compare leaves that field out and tells you that the manufacturer sources disagree. It does not choose whichever page happens to publish the larger number.
A useful tire changer comparison looks beyond rim size
Two tire changers can advertise a similar wheel range while differing in clamping architecture, complete-tire diameter, width field, assist hardware, bead seating, difficult-tire evidence, voltage, air pressure and machine weight. Compare keeps those rows visible so one headline specification cannot stand in for the entire machine.
The tool also separates rim-clamp outside/inside ranges from center-clamp general rim ranges. That means a larger number in one column is only meaningful when the row describes the same type of published measurement.

This is the kind of comparison the page is meant to make easy. TC289 has a larger documented wheel/tire envelope, while several other published operating fields match TC229. That is a factual difference—not a declaration that TC289 is better for a shop whose work already fits TC229.
Width rows should be read with their exact label
Manufacturers may publish maximum tire width, maximum wheel width or another width tied to a specific operation. Compare does not silently rename every one of those fields “max tire width.” When the manufacturer publishes wheel width, the table shows wheel width; when only tire width is published, that stays distinct.
This matters most when a buyer is close to a machine’s limit. A seemingly small wording difference can represent a different physical measurement.
Assist arms, bead blasters, leverless tooling and run-flat evidence belong on separate rows
Those features solve different problems. An assist arm helps control a stiff bead or sidewall. A bead blaster helps seat a bead. Leverless tooling changes the mount/demount process. Run-flat or low-profile capability requires its own manufacturer evidence. Compare keeps them separate so a machine is not credited with one capability merely because it has another.
For example, Coats RC 55 and Ranger R80EX explicitly publish difficult-tire capability while remaining conventional rim-clamp architectures. Hunter Revolution publishes leverless tooling, while run-flat support is shown separately only where the manufacturer documents it.
Power and air rows can reveal a shop-fit difference after the wheel specs look similar
Atlas TC229 is a 110 V machine with a 90–110 PSI published operating range. Ranger R80EX is 230 V with a 140–165 PSI range. Coats Maxx 90 is 220 V and publishes 15 CFM in addition to its air-pressure range. Those differences can matter more than a small clamp-range advantage when a shop already has fixed electrical service or compressor capacity.
Compare shows the values but does not perform an electrical or compressor design calculation. If CFM is missing for one model, N/A is more honest than estimating it from pressure.
Application and adapter rows complete the dimensional picture
Motorcycle and ATV service is a good example. Weaver W-M807X publishes those applications directly. Atlas machines can publish optional adapter pathways. XK 580 publishes motorcycle capability with an adapter available but not included. A small rim diameter on some other automotive changer does not create the same evidence.
When comparing machines for specialty work, read the application/adapter rows together with the dimensional rows rather than assuming that the smallest clamp number decides the question.
When manufacturer documents publish different values
KATOOL currently publishes different clamp values for the KT-T830 and KT-T835 on different live manufacturer pages. Compare leaves the disputed maximum out, tells you that the manufacturer sources disagree, and continues to display the other published fields that agree.
This is different from a machine that genuinely publishes a smaller maximum. N/A means there is not enough reliable information for that field; it does not mean zero and it does not mean the feature is absent.
Use Differences only to reduce table noise
The Differences only control hides rows where all selected machines show the same published value. It is useful after you have looked at the complete baseline, especially when two models share many electrical or hardware fields.
It is not a better/worse filter. A difference matters only when it relates to the wheels, tires, utilities or workflow the shop needs.
Confirm exact model identity before acting on a comparison
Model families can have different voltages, assist packages or marketplace bundles. Compare keeps each specification tied to the selected configuration rather than borrowing it from a similar product title. That is especially important when one model appears in several combo packages or when a manufacturer revises a machine without changing familiar family wording.
If a shopping option is available for the exact configuration, it is kept separate from the specification comparison. Shopping availability does not change the machine’s technical fields or make it a better match.
