Ranger separates swing-arm, tilt-back and heavy-duty work clearly
The current Ranger lineup gives shops several distinct equipment paths. The R980XR is the straightforward professional swing-arm machine. The R980DP keeps the swing-arm format and adds dual assist towers. The R76ATR moves to a tilt-back tower with a single assist system, while the R80EX is the larger dual-assist tilt-back choice. The R26FLT is a separate hydraulic heavy-duty truck machine.
That makes Ranger a good example of why tire-changer selection should start with how the machine operates and the shop’s vehicle mix. Two machines can publish similar maximum tire diameters but feel very different in daily use because of tower movement, assist hardware, clamping range and shop utility requirements.

R980XR vs R980DP: the dual-assist decision
The R980XR and R980DP are both professional swing-arm machines with TurboBlast bead seating and 208–240 V power in the configurations compared here. The R980XR is the cleaner choice for normal daily passenger, pickup, SUV and light-truck work when a power-assist tower is not required.
The R980DP adds dual pneumatic assist towers and Ranger explicitly positions it for low-profile, run-flat, high-performance and other difficult assemblies. If that work is frequent, the assist system is a more important difference than simply chasing the largest clamp number.
For motorcycle/ATV work, selected current Ranger models publish raised clamp kit 5328425 and a separate plastic-head requirement. The adapter guide keeps those companion parts together.

R76ATR vs R80EX: tilt-back at two levels
The R76ATR is the more moderate tilt-back path. It publishes a 9–28 inch outside-clamp range, 10–30 inch inside-clamp range, 43-inch maximum tire diameter and one right-side assist tower. The R80EX expands the clamps to 10–30 inches outside and 13–34 inches inside, with a 47-inch maximum tire diameter and dual assist towers.
Choose between them based on the wheels and workload that actually arrive in the shop. If the R76ATR already covers the envelope and one assist tower is enough, the larger R80EX may not add useful capacity. If large/wide difficult assemblies are routine, the R80EX’s extra range and second assist tower are easier to justify.
Ranger’s passenger machines require serious air supply planning
The current R980XR, R980DP, R76ATR and R80EX pages publish a 140–165 PSI minimum air-source range. That is higher than many value-oriented rim-clamp machines, so the compressor decision can materially affect installed cost.
These models also use 208–240 V power in the configurations compared here. Confirm the exact voltage option before ordering and use the Tire Changer Air Supply Checker rather than assuming tank size alone proves the compressor is adequate.
R26FLT is a different class of machine
The R26FLT is built for tubeless truck, agricultural and off-road tires and uses hydraulic clamping and drive systems. Ranger publishes a 63-inch maximum tire diameter and 31-inch maximum wheel width, but those large numbers should not be read as a reason to use the machine for ordinary passenger work.

Ranger packages pair these changers with several balancer levels
Ranger currently sells wheel-service packages that pair R980XR, R980DP, R76ATR and R80EX machines with balancers such as DST-series and LS45DS models. The package can simplify ordering, but the balancer should still be checked separately for wheel dimensions, weight, centering and diagnostic needs.
