Revolution vs Maverick: automation or technician control
Revolution is Hunter’s automation-first path. The current machine centers around a fully automatic sequence with a leverless demount hook, powered press arms and WalkAway operation. It is a natural fit when a shop values repeatable process and wants the machine to take over more of the mount/demount cycle.
Maverick takes a different approach. It remains center-clamp and leverless, but gives the technician fully variable hydraulic control. Hunter currently offers TCM, TCMW and TCMPRO configurations, with wheel-lift differences between them. That can suit shops that want premium wheel protection and hydraulic assistance while keeping the technician actively in control of the process.
The TCX table-top line keeps a familiar table-top format
Hunter’s TCX family is the closer match to a conventional rim-clamp shop setup. The current table-top family publishes a 10–28 inch total clamp range across configurations and power choices that include 220 V, 110 V and compressed-air versions. The specific TCX59 Pro and TCX53 Pro configurations add Hunter’s hybrid leverless head, while the TCX58 keeps the conventional mount head and adds an automatic swing arm.
This is why the model suffix matters. “TCX” alone does not tell you whether the machine is leverless, which bead-press hardware is installed, or which power configuration is being quoted.

Heavy-duty Hunter machines are a separate decision
The TCX635HD is aimed at over-the-road commercial tires and publishes a 58-inch maximum tire diameter. The TCX645HD expands well beyond that to a 90.5-inch maximum tire diameter and optional rim capacity up to 56 inches. It is a much larger machine for truck, agricultural and implement work.

High-volume passenger shop with mixed technician experience
Revolution is the clearest Hunter path when repeatable process and automation are the priority. Its automated mount/demount sequence can reduce the number of manual decisions during a tire change, and the center-clamp approach avoids table-top jaw contact on the rim edge. A shop should still check wheel dimensions and how the machine fits the shop’s daily work, but the reason to choose it is process consistency rather than simply maximum rim size.
Performance shop that wants technician control
Maverick is more compelling when the technician wants variable hydraulic control and a leverless center-clamp operation. It is especially relevant when large, reverse-drop-center or difficult wheel assemblies are common and the operator wants to control each movement instead of handing more of the sequence to automation.
Established rim-clamp shop replacing familiar equipment
A TCX table-top model can be the easier transition when technicians already work efficiently on a conventional rim-clamp machine. TCX53 Pro and TCX59 Pro bring leverless tooling and bead-press assistance into that familiar format, while TCX58 keeps a conventional mount head. The right answer can therefore be a choice about how the machine operates as much as a specification choice.
What to have ready before requesting a Hunter quote
Write down the largest rim diameter, largest overall tire diameter, widest assemblies, approximate mix of low-profile/run-flat work, and whether medium-duty or 19.5-inch assemblies are regular jobs. Also note available electrical service and whether a wheel lift is important. Those details make a dealer quote much more useful because Hunter families can be configured differently even when the base machine name is similar.
