Atlas has a clear four-step passenger/light-truck progression
Atlas makes the lineup relatively easy to understand. The TC221 is the base swing-arm machine. The TC229 keeps the same basic wheel/tire envelope and adds a built-in bead blaster. The TC289 expands the turntable and capacity for larger SUV and one-ton-truck work. The TC755 moves the larger-capacity idea into a tilt-back format.
Assist-arm packages are also offered on several of these models, so the exact suffix matters. A TC229DAA or TC289DAA is not the same equipment configuration as the base machine simply because the model number begins the same way.

TC221 vs TC229: bead blaster is the main step
Atlas publishes the same clamping ranges, 39-inch maximum tire diameter, 13-inch width limit, 1 HP motor and 90–110 PSI air requirement for the TC221 and TC229. The practical difference is that the TC229 adds the built-in bead blaster, while the TC221 does not.
That means the TC229 is not automatically a larger-capacity machine. Choose it when bead seating on harder-to-inflate assemblies matters enough to justify the added hardware.

TC289 is the capacity step-up before tilt-back
The TC289 broadens the published outside clamp to 28 inches and inside clamp to nearly 30 inches. Atlas also positions it for large SUVs, one-ton trucks and farm use. It remains a swing-arm machine, so a buyer can gain a larger working envelope without changing to a tilt-back tower.
Atlas offers left-hand and dual-assist versions of the TC289 as separate configurations. Those assist packages can matter for stiff-sidewall, low-profile and run-flat work, but the included hardware must be checked on the exact SKU rather than assumed from the base TC289 name.
TC755: useful tilt-back design, but two current Atlas sources disagree
The current TC755 product page publishes a 47-inch maximum tire diameter and 18-inch maximum wheel width. Atlas’s current comparison guide publishes 47.5 inches and 13.5 inches for those same fields. Both are Atlas sources, and the width difference is large enough to change a buying decision.
For that reason, do not use either TC755 maximum as a hard purchase boundary without confirming the exact current configuration with Atlas. The comparison tools keep those disputed fields unresolved while preserving the clamping ranges that the sources agree on.
Shop utilities are unusually consistent across these Atlas models
TC221, TC229, TC289 and TC755 all publish 110 V power and 90–110 PSI air requirements on the current product pages used here. The larger machines are physically heavier and need more floor and delivery planning, but the basic electrical path is simpler than brands whose upper-tier passenger machines move to 208–240 V.
